New Delhi: Parents in Delhi no longer need to visit municipal offices to add or modify names of their wards in birth certificate. Soon, they can do so online.
A senior south corporation official from the public health department said that many improvements were being introduced in birth and death registration mechanism on the orders of Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.
The process of obtaining online applications is already underway. Through this, people can take printouts of death and birth certificates at home. The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) is now updating its software to allow people to make changes and corrections in birth certificates online.
The SDMC has said that issuance of death and birth certificates online will be free.
Under the scheme, which started last year, the first copies of both the certificates will be delivered free of cost at home, while applicants need to pay for every subsequent copy.
