Three main roads to be made signal free in Noida; CRRI to study road safety

Noida: To reduce traffic chaos and provide seamless vehicular movement, the Noida Authority has decided to make three main roads signal free. These roads are DND to Sector 57, Sector 1 to Phase 2 and NH 24 to Sector 71. At first, the work will start in January at the DND route and it is supposed to be completed in the next four months.

It is no secret that the U-turns which were made to ease the traffic in the district have rather created more congestions and accidents than the smooth flow of traffic. 

Seeking redressal to the problem, a member of a social forum registered a complaint with Noida Authority, which in return, said that Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) will be conducting a road safety study soon.

The issues of U-turns and unorganised diversions have been in debate for long. Traffic jams are common and accidents have become rampant.

Interestingly, these U-turns were made without consulting the general public or doing area study. 

Considering all these factors, Vishnu Saini, a resident of Ecociti in Sector 137 and a member of Progressive Community Federation had lodged a complaint with the Noida Authority through IGRS (Integrated Grievances Redress System) saying that Noida was supposed to be a planned city but it has turned into a lab of experiments.

He further said that the purposal of making a U-turn in Noida was intended to make the city free of congestions, but here on every U-turn, more jams can be seen. 

People can be seen driving in the wrong lane to avoid long distance and the road safety is in jeopardy. Saini in his complaint requested the authority to intervene and conduct an investigation into the matter.

Following the complaint, the traffic cell of the Noida Authority responded by stating that all the routes of Noida are proposed to be studied by CRRI. 

They mentioned that the three routes which are currently over congested are Road No 1 from DND Noida to T-point in Sector 56, Dadri Road from Dadri-Chalera road to Kulesra, and Road No 6 from NH 24 to sectors 71, 72, 51, 52. These roads are proposed to be studied by CRRI.

Work will be carried out based upon the suggestions to ease the traffic congestions in Noida.
