Noida: Sports enthusiasts and budding players would not be required to travel long distance for practices as Noida Authority has geared up to complete the remaining work of an indoor stadium which is expected to finish soon.

The concerned officer has been directed by Ritu Maheshwari, Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority to complete the work within a stipulated period of three months.

Her direction is an outcome of review meeting held recently (on January 7) at the administrative building of the authority. She instructed the officer concerned that the remaining development should be carried out on war footing to make it ready by April.

The construction work of new stadium, which is located in Sector 21, was started in February 2015. It was to be completed within a period of one year. But it got delayed by several years now.

The stadium is being developed in an area of 3,700 square meters. The size of the area is estimated to be around 56.5m x 43.5m with a 1.5 meter wide safe space around it. It would be having a capacity to accommodate 4,000 spectators.

The stadium would also be equipped with a single level parking in the basement and barrier free access for the physically challenged people.

The indoor stadium is designed in a way which facilitates different sports. It has courts for different sports and space for recreational activities. Eight Badminton courts, fourteen Table Tennis arenas, two fields each for Basketball and Handball along with a field for Volleyball were planned for construction.

Additionally, the stadium will also have courts for Gymnastics, Judo, Fencing, Boxing, Weight Lifting and Taekwondo.

Once this sporting facility gets ready, people especially sports enthusiasts would not be required to travel to Delhi to avail the facility. It would be available for them in their own city.
