Broken road becomes an election issue

New Delhi: The main road of Krishna Nagar has been lying in a state of neglect for quite some time. There were potholes on the road which was dug up at many places.

Just two months before the Assembly elections, SK Bagga, sitting AAP MLA of the constituency, promised to rebuild it with the MLA fund. However, work on the road is still incomplete and commuters are facing traffic jams due to the waterlogging.

The opposition is trying to cash in on the issue of the issue at the hustings. Rival contenders in the Assembly elections are spreading a word among the electorate to remember the broken road while casting their vote.

Sandeep Kapoor, a member of a standing committee of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC ) said, “A board has been put up on the roadside reading: 'Work on the road is going on with the use of MLA fund. Why did the party not do this for five years?”

Will this one issue change the tables on the sitting AAP MLA, only time will tell.
