Ghaziabad: Alleging grave irregularities in giving possession to housing societies that caused huge loss of revenue by Housing and Development Board, the district administration of Ghaziabad recommended the state government to initiate action against the board.
District Magistrate (DM) Ajay Shankar Pandey wrote to the UP Government divulging details of the corrupt practices employed by the board while handing over the possession of the housing societies. In his letter, the DM exhorted the government to initiate action against the board, said officials of the district administration.
According to the officials, the board allowed possession of flats without completion certificate (CC) which is a clear violation of the rules. "Possession of a housing project can't be allowed without seeing completion certificate of that project," say the officials.
As per the official sources, the land in Vasundhara was allotted to 42 co-operative housing societies where a total of 8,130 flats have been developed. However, of these, 5,445 flats are occupied without registry.
It was revealed to the administration that the board had allotted lands to 42 housing co-operative societies. The layout plan was passed for 8,130 flats while stamp duty was paid only for 2,540 flats. This negligence happened under the watch of the housing board, alleged a senior district administration official.
It is estimated that this irresponsible behaviour on the part of the board cost the exchequer 164.15 crore in revenue, the official added.
Ciryspidey reached out to the officers of the housing board for their version. An official from the board, on the condition of anonymity, acknowledged the allegation. "Yes, we are aware of it," he said, adding that the board was yet to receive an intimation from the state administration.
