Liquor shops to remain closed in Ghaziabad in view of Delhi Assembly Elections

Ghaziabad: The excise department has announced closure of all liquor shops in Ghaziabad on 7, 8 and 11 February in view of the Delhi Assembly Elections scheduled on Saturday, February 8.

The shops would remain closed on February 11 due to the counting of votes.

The direction has come from the state administration to close liquor shops in the districts of Uttar Pradesh that share borders with Delhi.

As per excise rules, 48 hours before the end of polling, poll-bound states are declared 'dry' and no sale or serving of liquor is permitted.

The motive behind this decision is to maintain peace and law and order during election and counting of votes.

Apart from Ghaziabad, liquor shops in Noida, Greater Noida and Baghpat would also remain closed.
