AIIMS starts new OPD block with more facilities
New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences has started a new OPD block to ease the process of registration. The new building was officially inaugurated on Monday.
It is a six storey building, however in the phase only three storeys will be functional. There is huge space for parking in the basement. Patients coming from South Extension can easily enter the OPD from gate number six of AIIMS campus.
The old Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur OPD block was very congested. Patients had to suffer a lot while receiving treatment. Parking was also a very big issue as they had to park their vehicles two to three kilometers away from the main block.
The new block has been made keeping all these issues in mind. The parking facility is just one kilometer. There is a lift facility, new waiting area to ease the problem of waiting and separate counter for female patients so that they do not have to wait.
Orthopedics, psychiatry, dermatology and geriatric medicine departments have been shifted form old OPD block to the new OPD block. Geriatric department is situated on second floor in C Block.
