New Delhi: Senior citizens came out in large numbers to vote in the Delhi Assembly elections. Although most of them did not apply for pick and drop facility provided by the Election Commission, they willingly participated in the elections saying it is their right to exercise the franchise.
A 108-year-old lady casted her vote early around 9 am. The lady was taken to the polling booth by her grandson. Her grandson said, “We don’t need to book pick and drop facility. We took grandmother along with us to the polling booth.”
In Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency, 90 years old Ved Prakash casted his vote. He reached the polling station on wheel chair. As per information given by Election Commission, only 27.37 voter turnout has been witnessed till 1.30 pm which is very low.
