Noida Authority imposes fines on five societies, one mall

Noida: Going strict against the defaulters, Noida Authority on Saturday imposed hefty fines on five residential societies and a commercial unit located in different residential sectors of the city.

They were found to be flouting the solid waste management rules. Following which, the authority imposed a fine of Rs 3.20 lakh. The figure is a cumulative amount of money imposed on a total of 5 residential societies and a mall in the city.

According to officials with the authority, these societies and mall, which fall under bulk waste generator category, have to make arrangement of waste disposal within their compounds.

But they had not done anything in this regard. The authority had intimated them to have such a set up in place and also sent out reminders to each society. But they had not taken them seriously.

Officials said that they had given notices to them and also warned them for having the waste disposal set up in place. But they had not acted and were flouting the rules continuously. Following which, the authority initiated an action against these residential societies.

IP Singh, officer-on-special duty with the authority said that a team of officials from sanitation department conducted a surprise inspection for these societies that included Today Homes in Sector 135, Supertech Capetown in Sector 74, Futech Gateway in Sector 75, Paras Tierea in Sector 137 and Shopprix Mall in Sector 61 on Friday and Saturday.

During the inspection, the team found that waste water treatment plant was not functional at these residential societies. Some of them had not made arrangements for waste disposal. “The authority issued challan to them,” he added.
