Noida: The Uttar Pradesh Government allocated a fund of Rs 2,000 crore for a proposed international greenfield airport, popularly known as Jewar Airport, in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. 

UP Finance Minister Suresh Khanna made an announcement to this effect while presenting the annual budget for the financial year 2020-2021 on Tuesday.

“A budget of Rs 2,000 crore has been proposed for the Noida international greenfield airport in Gautam Buddh Nagar’s Jewar. The airport is expected to go operational by 2023,” Khanna said in his budget speech.

With an eye on the 2022 UP Assembly Elections, the Yogi Adityanath Government presented a populist Budget with special focus on farmers' schemes, infrastructure development, highway projects, women's safety and development for youth.

The Rs 5,12,860-crore state Budget for 2020-21 happens to be the biggest-ever state budget. Last year, the government had allotted Rs 4.79 lakh crore budget for the state.
