New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Coporation on Sunday closed the entry and exit gates of Jafrabad metro stations in the wake of protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National register of Citizenship (NRC). Trains will not halt at the station for now.
The protest began on Friday and continued till Sunday. Traffic was also blocked at the site as the protestors continued to occupy the road.
More than 1,000 women gathered in front of the metro station and began a sit-in on the road which connects Seelampur to Maujpur and Yamuna Vihar.
Heavy security is deployed at the site. The protestors plan to march from Jafrabad road to Rajghat on Sunday. However, the police has denied permission for the same.
