New Delhi: East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) is on a mission to clean entire drainage network before the arrival of monsoon so that residents don’t have to face inconvenience due to waterlogging.
On Sunday, the corporation carried out a special drive to clean the drainage of Kanti Nagar with the help of super sucker machines. The super sucker machine is based on vacuum technique that breaks solid silt of the drainage.
Two super sucker machines are listed in the equipment of the corporation.
Kanchan Maheshwari, councilor of the area, said, “We have started a special drive to clean the area with water sprinkle machine for the settlement of dust. Now, we are using super sucker to clean drainage of the area.”
Referring to the drive carried out on Sunday in Kanti Nagar ward 26 along with Shankar Nagar, she said, “We are listening to the grievances of people due to waterlogging in the area so that the machine could deployed to clean the road.”
A resident of Shankar Nagar said, “Yesterday’s downpour caused a lot of waterlogging in the area. We complaint to the EDMC about it. Soon after our complaint, the corporation sent the super sucker machines to clean the drainage.”
