CBSE puts off class X, XII exams in violence-hit northeast Delhi

Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued an urgent press note stating that examinations scheduled for February 28 and 29 in classes X and XII stands cancelled for the northeast Delhi. The area is affected by violence.   

The decision, the circular said, was taken considering a request from the Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi. 

The CBSE exam for class X scheduled for February 28 which has been cancelled include 254 (Elem Book-K and Accountancy), while those scheduled for February 29 include 002 (Hindi Course-A) and 085 (Hindi Course-B).

Similarly, the CBSE exams for class XII scheduled for February 28 which have been cancelled include 003 (Urdu Elective), 022 (Sanskrit Elective), 076 (National Cadet Corp), 303 (Urdu Core), 322 (Sanskrit Core), 622 (Engineering Science), 810 (Front Office Operations), 827 (Air-Conditioning and Refrigration), 830 (Design) and 831 (Salesmanship). 

The exams for class XII scheduled for February 29 which stands cancelled include 046 (Engineering Graphics), 079 (Library and Information Science) (old), 609 (Typography and Computer Application Hindi) (old), 607 (Typography and Computer Application English) (old), 747 (Library System and Resource Management), 793 (Capital Market Operations), 817 (Typography and Computer Application) (new), 820 (Electronic Technology), 836 (Library and Information Science) (new), 837 (Fashion Studies) and 778 (Printed Textile). 

The revised dates for these examinations will be notified shortly.

The board said that the exams have been cancelled to avoid inconvenience to students, staff and parents. 

Students can find details of the exam centres where exams have been cancelled by visiting the board's website www.cbse.nic.in

However, the notification said that the exams in rest of Delhi shall be conducted as scheduled. The exams in all the centres shall be held as scheduled from Monday, March 2, 2020 onwards.
