New Delhi: The news of positive case of coronavirus spread like fire in the National Capital. Coronavirus has become a nightmare for over 60 overseas countries which have been doing everything possible to control the pandemic which is growing day by day.
In case of the National Capital, the positive case is a resident of East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar area.
CitySpidey did a recce of the area to find out the developments related to the positive case. It came to light that the man had thrown a birthday party for his child. As and when the news of the man getting infected of COVID-19 spread, everyone who had attended that birthday party came in the reckoning.
People suspected that whoever attended that party must be under risk of infection. Shriram Millennium School in Noida on Tuesday informed the parents that schools will remain shut from March 4 to March 6.
“One of our parents who resides in Delhi has tested positive for coronavirus and is going under treatment. We are being guided by the district administration and CMO of Gautam Budh Nagar who has visited the school today and discussed the matter in detail,” the school said in a statement.
The school’s management also informed that all learning spaces in the school campus as well as school buses are being fumigated and sanitised completely.
A resident of Greater Noida, whose children study at Shriram Millennium School, said, “School has advised us to follow precautionary measures to keep their children safe. People are concerned after this news broke out. We need to be careful and follow the advice of the government to prevent it.”
To understand the impact of first case being tested positive in the National Capital, CitySpidey visited Block-E, Mayur Vihar Phase 2 where one of two persons tested positive reside. Residents of residential colony were seen wearing masks.
People who talked to CitySpidey said they are worried that the coronavirus has reached their colony which accommodates around one thousand families in four-storied buildings.
The sources in Ram Manohar Lohia hospital confirmed that the resident had travelled to Italy recently. He was shifted to a quarantine ward at Safdarjung Hospital on Sunday night.
The Residents Welfare Association (RWA), though, has not received any advisory from any official department. The representatives of residents’ association along with other RWAs have stepped up to take preventive measures and to avoid panic among the residents.
Davinder Jutla, Pocket E, Mayur Vihar Phase 2 RWA President talking to CitySpidey, said, “We haven’t issued any advisory for the resident yet, as we came to know today (Tuesday) only about the man living in our pocket has been confirmed with the virus from the news.”
She added, “There is a meeting regarding the same with all the RWA representatives of Phase II and we will jointly take a decision in this direction.”
During the visit to the Block E, a posh colony in Mayur Vihar Phase 2, it was found that people living in the colony were aware with matter and they were seen wearing masks as a preventive step. However, the women working as maids in this residential colony were not aware of the current situation.
When asked whether they know about coronavirus, a group of maids expressed surprise to hear the word and said that they don’t have any idea about that.
It emerged that, even though, Mayur Vihar Phase 2 is making headline due to it, women working as maids were clueless. The guard at the entrance was clueless about any such thing happening in the society. They had no idea that a man, having the deadliest virus which is human communicable, resided there.
The man was living in the area for years and has his office in the Pocket F of the Phase 2. CitySpidey couldn’t confirm if the office employees were also sent for screening.
