Mobile app to monitor garbage collection reaches Sector 27

Gurugram: To ensure better monitoring of door-to-door garbage collection, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) introduced a Swachh Nagar mobile application for Sector 27 of Ward 34.

The mobile app has been launched by MCG Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh on Friday in the presence of Deputy Mayor Sunita Yadav, Councillor RS Rathi, MCG officials and the residents of the sector.

During the inauguration of the app, the MCG chief encouraged the residents to adopt the practice of keeping their household waste segregated into dry and wet waste categories.

“Two pickup vehicles were inducted to lift the wet and dry waste from about 250 houses of Sector 27. The route, timetable and collection of garbage will be recorded on the Swachh Nagar Mobile App,” he said.

He made an appeal to representatives of the RWA to ask the residents of the sector to separate the garbage at the source level to enable the collection of the waste in separately so as to manage it in a better way.

Earlier, the MCG had initiated this service in Sector 38 on a pilot project for monitoring of the garbage lifting on a real time basis. The civic body is now planning to introduce the service in all the 35 wards across the city.

Vinay Pratap Singh asked the officials to inform the citizens about the system and create awareness on the segregation of garbage. He told them to ensure that the garbage is collected from each household between 7 am to 9 am.

According to an MCG official, drivers of the pickup vehicles will have the app in their mobile. Barcodes have been placed at all the houses in the sector. 

“As soon as the garbage vehicle arrives near a house, the driver will scan the home barcode with the Swachh Nagar mobile app and enter details of the type of waste collected dry, wet or mixed and whether the door was locked or owners refused to give waste,” said SS Rohilla, Public Relation Officer, MCG

Elaborating on the function of the app, he said information about the arrival of the vehicle will reach the citizens of the sector via SMS. Along with this, the citizens will also access details entered by the driver in the app after picking up the garbage. 

All this information will immediately reach senior officials of the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry and the MCG. The drivers are trained in the use of the mobile app.
