Dwarka tree felling: Protesters meet NHAI officials; demand flyover route change

Dwarka: To put forth their demand for stopping tree felling for proposed flyover, the members of Federation of Cooperative Group Housing Societies, Dwarka, along with representatives from sectors 22 and 23 met with officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Thursday evening.

They also did an onsite inspection of the development of the project. Many social organisations and the residents of sectors 22 and 23 are protesting against the cutting of trees for a flyover.

Federation of CGHS, Dwarka Bachao Abhiyan, Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi and other such social groups and RWAs are protesting against the NHAI project.

During the meeting, members from such groups talked to the NHAI officials and demanded halt in cutting of trees and asked for changing the route of the flyover.

President of Federation of CGHS, Sudha Sinha said, “NHAI explained the actual situation/placement of the expressway/flyover. The federation requested them to work out an alternative route plan via Radha Swami Satsang Road. The officials promised to share a feasible route by next week. The ball has started rolling and we should expect something positive coming out of our demand.”

Convenor of Dwarka Bachao Abhiyan, Asha Punj said, “We don't want any flyover here. We asked NHAI to bring an alternative route through Radha Swami Satsang Road.”
