Road made from plastic waste to come up soon in Noida

Noida: A 500-meter long road made from plastic waste will soon come up in Noida as a pilot project, officials said on Friday.

The road will be 12-meter wide and will come up Sector 129. It will be constructed parallel to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

As per the officials, the project will be completed by Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on October 2.

The Noida Authority and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding in this regard. It will be part of 'Swachh Bharat Mission'.

“The road stretch would be 500-metre long and 12-meter wide, covering 6,000 square meter area in total. The entire stretch would be made of used and waste plastic in a bid to reduce pollution through plastic. The initiative would also lead to 8 to 10 times less use of bitumen in the road construction,” the authority said in a statement.
