Delhi wakes up to chilly morning as temp drops to 3.4 degrees Celsius
New Delhi: The citizens woke up to a chilly morning on Sunday as Delhi recorded the coldest morning of the season at 3.4 degrees Celsius. As per the India Meteorological Department, the fall in temperature was due to the cold wave.
According to an IMD official, the observatory recorded a minimum of 3.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which is five notches below normal. He further said that the maximum temperature is expected to settle around 22 degrees Celsius.
The IMD said that the mercury fell to 3.3 degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road because of the icy winds coming from snow-capped peaks of Western Himalayas.
On Saturday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 3.9 degrees Celsius at the Safdarjung Observatory, which gives the representative data for the city. The minimum temperature had plummeted to 2.7 degrees Celsius at Jafarpur in Delhi.
The city had seen severe cold wave conditions on Friday and Thursday. The maximum temperature was recorded at 19.8 degrees Celsius, which was three notches below normal.
On the other hand, a severe cold day was witnessed with a maximum temperature of 15.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday. It was seven degrees below normal.
