New Delhi: Koo is an indigenous micro-blogging website which mainly focusses on allowing people to post their opinion in their language. The app was launched ten months ago.

Koo had won the Atmanirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge along with Zoho and Chingari which was held in August last year. The app was launched by Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka.

It is available in several languages including Hindi, Telugu, Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Oriya, and Assamese. Radhakrishna said that the app provides a single language experience for users. It is available on both Google play store and Apple app store.

According to Radhakrishna, users are able to find topics around their language of choice. According to him, since typing in a regional language is difficult, the app has a feature that gives the users an option of audio and video posts.

Lately, there has been quite a rush to join the new micro-blogging website. The app seems to be benefitting from the government's tough stand on the popular micro-blogging website Twitter. Many ministers and government offices have also joined Koo and started engaging with followers via their handles.

Well-known personalities including Sadhguru, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, Prakash Javadekar, Anupam Kher, Shivraj Singh Chouhan have joined the new blogging website. Several other celebrities have also started signing up. The Union IT Ministry, India Post and the Niti Aayog are among the public authority divisions to have a record on the application.
