New Delhi: A hashtag ‘ChooseToChallenge’ has been trending on Twitter on Women's Day. It talks about breaking stereotypes and challenging bias and inequality. Women are more than capable of making a positive difference in our community.
@LIKEUParty said in a tweet, “Be Brave and #ChooseToChallenge inequality, stereotype, and bias. We are with you in fighting oppression. Let us use our voices for women empowerment.”
These tweets are compelling people to let their ladies know that it’s okay to take up space and be unapologetic. Topics like domestic abuse, agendas, equality and basic human rights are being discussed under this hashtag. Some people are just simply celebrating the presence of the women in their lives today.
@thenanaaba tweeted a comment in support of the young ladies and said, “If you’re speaking at an International Women’s day event today, tell the young ladies the truth. Don’t lie to them about how you got here just to push an agenda. Be real.”
Some queer community pages are also coming upfront and talking about non-binary and patriarchal oppression. To some, International Women’s Day may seem like another day dedicated to empty promises of equality but it gives people the chance to be heard to and share the message of justice and freedom.
