New Delhi: The festival of colours is around the corner and Indian festivals are incomplete without food. Holi is celebrated with yummy bites of gujiya filled with amazing fillings of nuts, khoya and what not. Let's discover some of the different gujiya fillings which you can enjoy with your loved ones this Holi.

1. Chocolate gujiya

Chocolates are most lovable sweets in every part of the country and won't it be great if we'll recreate something innovative with it. So let's try something new.

Ingredients required for 10 servings:

250 gm all purpose flour

2 cup refined oil

2 handfuls mixed dry fruits

1 1/2 cup dark chocolate

2 tablespoon ghee

1 cup powdered sugar

100 gm khoya

Water according to the need.

1 tsp black cardamom powder.

Steps for making chocolate gujiya:

First piece down dark chocolate in a bowl and melt it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Now crush a handful of dry nuts and mix it well in melted chocolate. Take a large bowl and add all purpose flour in it, add some water and ghee to knead. Form a stiff dough. Keep it aside for 10 minutes. Cover with wet cloth to maintain moisture. Meanwhile, prepare stuffing, take a pan on medium flame and put khoya in it, roast it till it turns pink and transfer it to some other bowl to cool it down. When it'll cool down, add melted chocolate with nuts and cardamom powder. Mix it well and divide small pieces out of dough and turn them into small rounded shapes (puri). Now put 2 tsp of stuffing on round puris and close it tightly by brushing water on its edges. You can even add design on the edges of your gujiya by using a fork. Now heat oil in a pan on medium flame and add filling gujia in hot oil. Fry them till they turn golden and your gujiyas are ready! Serve them with tissue decorated beautifull on the plate.

2. Coconut gujiya

Coconut gujiya will definitely enhance your taste with delicious fusion of dry nuts. Why not try this gujiya with coconut which will even provide you the benefits of antioxidants.

Ingredients required for 10 servings:

2 tablespoon ghee

Water as required

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon powdered black cardamom

250 gm all purpose flour

2 cup virgin olive oil

150 gm shredded coconut

2 handful mixed dry fruits

Steps to prepare coconut gujiya:

Add flour in a large bowl with melted ghee. Mix it well and then add water and knead it, to prepare dough. Cover the dough with wet cloth for moisture purpose. Now prepare filling for gujiya. Heat pan over low flame and add shredded coconut to it and fry it for 2-3 minutes. Later on add cardamom and powder sugar with crushed dry nuts. Saute the mixture well and transfer it to another bowl. Divide dough into small balls and roll them into round puris.Add 2 tsp of coconut mixture on to round puri and stuff them well. Press and close the gujiya properly. Heat oil into a pan on medium flame and add gujiya into it. Fry them till they turn golden. Your gujiyas are ready to serve with some good drinks.

3. Apple gujiya

Gujiya is not only for holi, but can be enjoyed at any time and it'll become healthier for your kids. Yes, apple gujiya is one of them. Try out this delightful dish.

Ingredients required for 10 servings of apple gujiya:

1 1/2 cup apple

2 tablespoon cashews

300 gm powdered sugar

2 tablespoon almonds

600 gm khoya

20 raisins

2 tablespoon pistachios

1/2 teaspoon green cardamom

4 cup all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup cold water

2 cup ghee

1 pinch salt

How to prepare:

For this delicious dessert, peel and grate apples in a bowl. Crush all the nuts properly and transfer them also in a small bowl. Prepare the dough by adding all purpose flour with melted ghee. Mix them well and then add water to knead it, for preparing dough. Cover the dough with wet cloth for moisture purpose. Fry khoya on medium flame till it turns pink, let it cool down and shift it to another bowl. Further add other ingredients like dry nuts and cardamom powder. Now it's time to saute grated apples till they get dry and then mix them well with khoya mixture. Now prepare gujiya by filling it with mixture. Deep fry gujiya in hot olive oil and it's ready to serve.

4. Gulkand gujiya

You can enjoy gulkand gujiya at any time with your family, on kitty parties and get together.

Ingredients for 10 gulkand gujiya:

20 gm coconut flake

10 gm powdered black cardamom

1 gm saffron

100 gm refined flour

1/2 cup ghee

20 gm nigella seeds

50 gm khoya

30 gm gulkand

100 gm sugar

20 gm shortening

sugar syrup as required

crushed pistachios as required.

Steps for preparing delicious gulkand gujiya:

Place a pan on the stove with medium flame, and saute khoya till it turns pink. Now add nigella seeds, coconut flakes, saffron, gulkand, cardamom powder in it. Mix it well. Take a bowl and add flour, shortening along with water to make a soft dough. Cover and let it rest for a few hours. Take small portions of the dough and make round balls and turn them into round puri. Then, add the filling in the center of the round puri and fold it in half. Close the ends of the gujiya tightly.
