Turn your boring home walls into masterpieces with these DIY decorations

Your home is the most treasured and the sacred place, undoubtedly. It doesn't matter how many exotic vacations you've taken, home is home. And although it is difficult to find the leisure of being able to spend a nice relaxing time at home in today's fast-paced life, it is also difficult to to stay indoors for too long. If the last year's and this week's lockdown has taught us anything, it is that home is the safest place to be in right now.

However, there are ways to make this unprecendeted circumstances a little not-so-boring, if not exciting. These ideas will not only keep you enaged, but also help you redecorate your homes!

DIY Wine Bottle

You can prepare DIY wine bottle with these steps:

Clean your bottle and remove stickers from them. You can also soak them in hot water for some time which will help to peel the stickers easily.

Wipe the bottle properly and mix one spoon of cement with two spoons of water in a bowl. Prepare a paste of cement and puff it with sponge on the bottle. Do it to make your paint scratch free.

If you are an abstract art lover, you can create any of the abstract designs with two contrasting colours. For example, painting half of the bottle with blue and half with white is a great combination.

Give time to let the colour dry and now design a golden colour on the meeting point of both the colour.

Varnish your bottle with acrylic varnish to make it waterproof or go for normal varnish available at home for furniture but it can give yellowish shade when dry. You can place flowers in it to make it look more aesthetic.

For a funky looking bottle, this is what you can try:

Follow the same steps mentioned above to remove stickers from bottles.

Now mix water and cement and puff it on bottles to make your paint scratch free.

Colour the bottle with any base colour you want and let it dry.

Now, draw faces of your choice with white glass pencil.

Once the structure of the face is ready, use your fingers or a paint brush to colour it.

Colouring it with multiple colours or a single one is your choice.

For a pastel look, add a bit of white colour in the colour of your choice.

Finally, outline the face with black and varnish it with acrylic varnish.

If you want, you can grow plants in these homemade vases. Now, your funky wine bottle is ready to rock your house.

DIY CD wall art

Here's how you can create beautiful CD art:

Clean and check your CD for a crack or a stain. If it's cracked, use another one.

Draw flowers with a glass pencil as the pencil will give you a smooth flow of drawing

Now, colour your flower. Apply at least two to three coatings of colour on the flower. Remember, the first coat should be dry before you apply the next one.

Add more colour for better effects after your last coat is completely dry.

Colour the left out area with black colour.

For the centre of the flower, colour it with brown colour. Let it dry.

Now varnish it with acrylic varnish to make it waterproof. Your CD is ready to add colour to your wall.

Wall hangings

For this ancient and the easiest-to-make wall decorations, here's what you can do:

Draw an elephant with an upward trunk and cut out the shape from paper. Why elephants with upward trunks? It is believed that this design brings positivity.

Repeat the same process for whatever number of cuttings you require.

Now add colour on the base of the elephant and let it dry. Remember to colour your elephant's base with a light colour and the design with a dark one.

Once it is done, decorate it with any of your favourite designs. You need to either hammer a nail in the wall or use an old one.

Clip decorated elephants on a rope with equal distance between them and your wall hanging is ready.

Empty box as a canvas

If you are someone who loves paintings, this is an amazing hack for you or any kind of art. This hack doesn't only provide you a good base to paint but will also make it easy and durable for hangings. Want to know how?

First, separate the box with its lid and cover the lid with a black chart paper properly using glue.

Now, draw the leaves and branch of the tree.

Once it is done, paint some of the leaves with orange colour and some with green

Now, add a touch of some light and dark shades of both the colours in all the leaves.

Paint the branch with brown colour and outline the whole structure with white paint as it will enhance your painting.

Let it dry and your painting is ready to be hung on the wall with the folded sides of the box's lid supporting it. If a box is not available, plywood can also work. But, remember to cover all sides of the wood with white sheet or cotton cloth for safety purposes. To make it durable, you add one coat of white putti.

Mirror decoration

First, clean the boundaries of your mirror and proceed to draw whichever design or painting you fancy.

Then, spice it uo with your favourite colours. Polish your painting or design with acrylic varnish to make it waterproof.

And viola! Your boring mirror is now as cool and funky as your wardrobe!
