KKR concede fourth consecutive defeat; lose to RR in crucial encounter

New Delhi: It was again a bad show from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as they conceded fourth consecutive defeats in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Once again, their batsmen failed to step their game. They lost easily to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by six wickets at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

It was an important game for the both the teams. RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and invited KKR to bat first. KKR was able to score only 133 runs in 20 overs. Only Rahul Tripathi and Dinesh Karthik played well as they scored 36 off 26 and 25 off 24 respectively.

KKR again lost wicket in the power play, Shubman Gill was run out by Jos Buttler. The other opening batsman Nitish Rana looked in fine touch but he also lost his wicket in the ninth over to Sunil Narine.

However, the bowlers of RR did a great job, and Morris, the costliest player of the IPL history once again proved his worth and took and broke the backbone of the opposition batting lineup by taking 4 wickets.

RR experimented with the opening pair as Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal walked out in the ground to open the innings.  However, RR did not have a good start as Buttler got out and walked  back after scoring just five runs. Jaiswal also followed suit and got out in the fifth over.

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson played a captain’s knock of 42 runs off 41 balls and ensured the victory for RR side. David Miller also gave ample support and smashed 22 runs off 18 balls. RR won the match by six wickets.
