New Delhi: The overall coronavirus situation has improved considerably in the national capital in the last few days. The new cases dropped below 4,000 mark in city on Wednesday. It was the sixth straight day when the new cases were recorded below the 10,000 mark. 3,846 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 14,06,719.

Delhi reported 4,482 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, 4,524 on Monday, 6,456 on Sunday, 6,430 on Saturday, 8,506 on Friday and 10,489 on Thursday.

The number of new cases reported came out of 66,573 tests conducted on the previous day. At least 46,785 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 19,788 rapid antigen tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate declined to 5.78 per cent from 6.89 per cent on the previous day. The cumulative positivity rate was 7.61 per cent.

On the other hand, the daily deaths also witnessed a significant drop in last two days. It was reported below the mark of 300 again on Wednesday. Delhi reported 235 deaths on Wednesday, taking the toll to 22,346. Delhi reported 265 deaths on Tuesday, 340 on Monday, 262 on Sunday, 337 on Saturday, 289 on Friday and 308 on Thursday.

A total of 9,427 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 13,39,326 in the national capital. The recovery rate was 95.13 per cent. The active cases declined to 45,047 from 50,863 on the previous day.

As far as vaccination drive is concerned, a total of 1,05,440 people received vaccines in the last 24 hours. A total of 88,494 people received the first dose of the vaccine whereas 17,046 people received their second dose. So far, 48,21,325 persons have received vaccines in the national capital.

Out of the total 24,289 beds in coronavirus hospitals, 10,921 are vacant. The tally of people in home isolation declined to 27,112 from 31,197 on Tuesday.
