New Delhi: The times are challenging right now which generates the need of people to come together and help each other to fight Corona. That is exactly what is happening in Rohini, Delhi right now. The community has come together under these deadly circumstances to provide help to the needy.
In Rohini, the senior citizens have actively been participating in the distribution of food and oxygen to those who are in need. They are working along with the police and the health department to ensure fulfilment of needs like oxygen, etc. These senior citizens have been working together throughout this second wave of corona.
When CitySpidey talked to Ram Avtar Naiyar, Rohini CGHS Federation PRO, who is a senior citizen himself and has been actively participating in helping the needy people in these tough times, said that these services are linked with the CGHS Federation. They provide lunch and dinner, medicines, oximeters and oxygen cylinders to those who need it.
He added that these services have been made available and accessible to the people through the WhatsApp group. The people of the federation have been very supportive and are further disseminating this information so that they can help more people. On being asked about how the people reach out to him for help, he said that people share the address and name of the patient on WhatsApp itself and help is provided to them as ‘Friends of Federation’.
Talking about help and cooperation from the police, Naiyar said that they got a list of 320 senior citizens from the police who live alone and might need help. The senior citizens and the Friends of Federation have been helping such people constantly.
He said, “I am really thankful to our new DCP Pranav Tayal, ACP Vikas Shokeen, SHO Praveen Kumar. They have been there for us just one call away in all our problems. The police have made sure to help us in every way and have been very cooperative.”
“I have been going places to help people on my scooter and all the senior citizens are taking good care of their health. They make sure to wear masks and carry sanitiser with them. All of us are vaccinated with two jabs of the vaccine or at least the first one,” he further added.
He said that they all are social workers working for the good of our people and thanked the soldiers of the federation and the police for actively participating in this drive.
