Save your guts while you watch these zombie movies

With the release of the recent Snyder venture, 'Army of the Dead', the season of the zombie movies is back. There is no denying that a lot of people love zombie movies, no matter how disgusting those gut chewing, hungry for our blood monsters look, the adrenaline rush we get when the hero shoots the bullet right in the head of a zombie and it explodes is just unmatched.

It is always fascinating to know how a handful of people will defeat an army of zombies and get out of there alive, that journey is the soul of any zombie movie. As zombies are not our regular ghosts, they don’t scare us like conventional ghosts, they are much more practical and will literally eat you alive. There have been a lot of movies that take us on this journey of surviving a zombie outbreak, but here are my top picks:

World War Z (2013)

Directed by Marc Forster and based on a novel of the same name, this movie has one of the coolest ensemble star cast consisting of Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox, David Morse, Peter Capaldi and so on. With a gripping plot and incredibly choreographed action sequences, this movie is a must watch for all zombie heads.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)

Snyder really has some fascination with zombies and we are not complaining; he is a smart director who knows how to make a good zombie thriller. This is another one of his masterpieces and was actually his first feature film. Though it has the same formula of a zombie outbreak, followed by a surviving journey, that’s what we expect from a zombie movie. This movie is the OG of all zombie movies. Go watch it now if you haven’t.

Train to Busan (2016)

This Korean movie really shows that Koreans are big on zombie thrillers. We go on a train journey with our protagonists to Busan and just a few minutes into the movie, we witness a zombie outbreak. This is a fight to survive and reach a safer destination. The best part of this film is the subplots and character arcs. Also, that little girl will make you go awww with her cuteness.

Zombieland (2009)

Zombies and comedy together in a film? We are here for it! The movie is set in a post-apocalyptic zombie-hit USA and stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. It is a laugh riot with good action sequences. It is a simple movie, won’t stress your brain much so don’t keep those expectations but it is definitely a good weekend watch.

Go Goa Gone (2013)

This is the only Indian take of a zombie movie that I saw and totally loved. It is a ‘zom-com’, with characters that are relatable as hell and dialogues that will stay with you even after the movie is over. The highlight of the movie is Saif Ali Khan’s pseudo Russian mafia character and its music, remember 'Babaji ki booti'?
