A law and order breach occurred near the Army sectors 28, 29 and 37 in Noida after a statue of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in Ambedkar Park was allegedly vandalised.

The park situated adjacent to AVRWA (Arun Vihar Residents Welfare Association) boasts several statues of Dr Ambedkar. On Wednesday afternoon, some people noticed that one of the statues was broken. Within a few hours, many gathered at the spot and started shouting slogans. The crowd demanded that a new statue of Dr Ambedkar be installed at the same place.

SN Nigam, a resident of Sector 37, told City Spidey, “Around 12.30 pm, I saw a few people gathered near the statue, and I saw that the hands of the statue were broken. Thankfully, the police arrived in time and took control of the situation.”

Bacchu Singh, magistrate of Noida, assured that a new statue would be installed at the same place and requested everyone to keep calm.
