Sushant Singh Rajput, gone but never forgotten

Sushant Singh Rajput might not be with us anymore, but his charismatic personality, heart-melting smile, charming chivalry and his immaculate talent still remains with us. It’s been a year since this star left us but the pain, the feeling that we all lost someone of our own is still fresh.

I remember when I first heard the news and went numb for a minute. I refused to believe it and then the news flashed all over. I had no choice but to accept the fact that we have lost him. The pain of losing him felt personal, after all, he was one of us. A middle-class boy from Bihar, who dropped out of a top engineering institute to pursue his passion and excelled at that. He was someone who gave hope to so many people, a true success story we all rooted for.

One of the most interesting things about him was the dedication he’d put in each one of his projects. The earnesty with which he’d act and
perform made the screen sparkle. There are so many beautiful performances that he blessed us with. Here are the best one of them:

Kai Po Che (2013)

This story of three friends, based on the book ‘Three Mistakes of My Life’ has a wonderful cast, however, Sushant managed to shine even while sharing the screen with actors like Rajkumar Rao and Amit Sadh.

Resonating with his love for cricket in his real life, his character in the movie, Ishaan Bhatt, was also a cricket lover who opens his own sports club. The movie is a delightful watch and introduced us all to the brilliance of Sushant’s talent.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015)

This movie is a hidden gem. It has Sushant playing the titular India’s most famous detective: Byomkesh Baksi. This suspense thriller is set in the beautiful backdrop of Kolkata and is directed by Dibakar Banerjee. It will keep you hooked and at the edge of your seat throughout. Also, the acting skills of Sushant in this film are a treat to the eyes.

Kedarnath (2018)

This movie is like a fresh cold breeze, mainly because of the scenery of beautiful mountains and Kedarnath, and because of the charm of Sushant. The movie also marked Sara Ali Khan’s debut.

At the heart of this film lies a love story with the backdrop of devastating Kedarnath floods. It is a tearjerker and a lot of credit for that goes to Sushant.

Sonchiriya (2019)

This movie is one of those gems that do not get their due. Here, Sushant shares the screen with the likes of Manoj Bajpayee, Bhumi Pednekar, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana and still stands out.

The movie went under the bus due to various reasons but is a must-watch and a daring project to step into. It was courageous of Sushant to take such a challenging role and make it his own.

Chhichhore (2019)

This beautiful movie lies in the heart of every college kid. It was so refreshing to watch the issue of societal pressure a kid has to go through while preparing for competitive exams like JEE, NEET and so on being portrayed on screen. Also, the movie perfectly encapsulates the essence of college life and thus a lot of people resonated with it. With
a powerful message to deliver, this movie is a must watch- and should be on your feel-good watchlist.

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016)

It feels like Sushant was born to play the legend cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni on screen. We can never imagine any other actor playing this role to such perfection. He encapsulated the entire personality of MS Dhoni and played the role of his life.

This sports drama proved to be a blessing for Sushant and he got to show off all his talents via this venture. It was certainly a challenge to play someone so big on screen and Sushant did not just nail it, he immortalised the character. When anyone talks of Dhoni or this movie, there is no way anyone else could
have played this role any better. This role and Sushant were made for each other.

Sushant, you will always be missed. You will continue to live in your art and our hearts!
