Dwarka: Roads of Dwarka have become tough to commute after rain these days. Potholes and cracks have made the roads unsafe. Be it a metro corridor or a master plan road or even a service road, potholes can be seen all across the city.

While going from Sector 14 metro station towards Sector 13 metro station crossing the Vegas mall, there are several potholes. These potholes are so big that wheels of cars or bikes can fit into it causing odd situations. As said by the people, these potholes have been there for about a month and they have worsened after rain.

Ramesh Mumukshu, an RTI activist and Ex-General Secretary of Studio Apartments in Sector 16B has done a survey of few particular stretches and written to authority about such potholes.

He said, “From Sector 16B towards Sector 14 metro station and further towards Sector 12 metro station, I found more than 20 potholes. Such potholes can be dangerous for commuters. The authority must repair these potholes on an urgent basis.”

Master plan roads, which are wider and busier, are also in bad shape. One of the busiest roads, 201 has been in bad shape and the condition worsens after rain. Service lanes across Dwarka too need urgent repair as the damaged parts of the roads have become bigger after rain.

Suman Malik, a resident of Sector 6 said, “Authorities should be proactive. Before the rainy season, such damaged roads should be repaired to avoid problems.”

On the subject, concerned engineers from DDA said that the carpeting of roads would be done after the rainy season as the tendering is in process. For potholes, they said that as soon as rains stop, the potholes would be repaired.
