On 14 December 2021, India has reported a total of 5,784 new Covid 19 cases and 252 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, India’s total load of active cases stands at 88,993. However, the good news is that it is the lowest number recorded in the last 563 days.

Still, the fear of Covid lingers among people, especially with the arrival of new Covid variant, Omicron. The number of Omicron cases has increased to 40 in India including three new cases on Monday from Gujarat and Maharashtra. Meanwhile, Chief Minister of New Delhi Arvind Kejriwal said the National Capital is ready to fight the threat that can be caused by the new variant. He added there is no need for extra restrictions at present, though he is prepared to apply restrictions in Union Territory for the celebration of Christmas and New Year if required.
