20 years of K3G: Fashion Trends set by Poo

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham directed by Karan Johar in 2001 has completed almost two decades in Bollywood. From songs like Suraj hua madham to Kajol's funny dialogues, K3G became a true family blockbuster.

Even after 20 years, the movie is still loved across generations.  It seemed all the characters were cast perfectly. The star cast was apt in the film, no one else could have played better Anjali, Rahul, Pooja and Rohan. But there is one personality who tends to shine brighter than the rest of the cast. It is none other than Pooja Sharma, aka Poo, played by our very own most loved Kareena Kapoor Khan, "Kon hai vo Jisne mujhe muddd kar nahi dekha, who is he" became the most iconic dialogue of the time.

Her love for clothes and fashion was quite prominent in the film. From backless to co-ords, she was the real diva of the 90's and the epitome of y2k style.

But more than that, Poo set her own fashion trends. While Poo was the epitome of over-the-top, one thing was sure: she was ahead of the curve when it came to fashion. Let us revisit a few of them-

Co-ord fashion

Do you remember that sequence co-ord with 2 different sandals? Crazy or fashionable, that scene lives in our heads rent-free

Bralettes

Back in the 2000s, Poo was already wearing this emerging item of clothing. In 2001, she donned a pair of patterned trousers with neon and glittery bralettes! Many sequences in the film include her wearing bralettes, some of which are pretty fashionable. And 19 years later, the trend is still going strong.

The coral pink gharara

Kareena's classic dress from the song Bole Chudiyan. In the early 2000s, the actress sported a gorgeous coral pink gharara ensemble that revolutionised ethnic attire. The ensemble included a silver sequin-worked asymmetrical open back top with a criss-cross design, palazzo trousers, and a matching dupatta. The ensemble was a radical reinterpretation of traditional garb. The renowned ensemble was created by Manish Malhotra.

Asymmetrical crop tops and leather skirts

Poo's introduction in the film solidifies her role as a fashion icon. She set a fashion trend for generations to follow with her asymmetrical sequined backless top and mini leather skirt. In fact, there were numerous occasions throughout the film when Poo wore the crop top with aplomb.

Chokers

They are pretty popular, but poo has been rocking them since the '90s. If you are still not over chokers and like to wear one even today, just go for it! It makes an instant statement, and Poo is real proof of it! The big yellow flower choker looks tremendous.

Fur collars and animals prints

While fur collars and animal designs on jackets and scarves are popular today, Poo managed to easily pull off these fashion trends throughout the film. Given that fashion was still changing at the time, we can say her style was a glimpse into the present trends.

Sheer suit-set

The poo bani Parvati, the scene from the morning aarti with Hrithik Roshan, wore a sheer black suit with a jacket over it. We had become a fan of it. Here we are, almost in 2022, we still love sheer costumes and pull this incredible ensemble out from our wardrobe every time we want to make a mark.

Go ahead and create your iconic look taking inspiration from the one and only Poo from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
