Dwarka: Dwarka community members interacted with the brand ambassador of South Delhi Municipal Corporation for Swachhta Sarvekshan, Dr Ruby Makhija on the importance of solid waste management in a zoom meeting organised recently by SDMC. More than 25 RWAs and managing committee members of different societies across Dwarka participated in the meeting.

Brand Ambassador SDMC Dr Makhija interacted with the RWAs members and threw light on how community members can have a composting pit inside the society premises and participate in community composting. She showed a ppt presentation and shared information about the generation of waste and its management. She also showed how one could completely stop making use of single-use plastic.

The participants talked about their efforts in the direction of water segregation and solid waste management at the society level. They shared about how they are managing waste and how this could be more effective
with the support of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation. They appealed to SDMC to come forward in roping more RWAs to make the waste management initiative successful.

Moreover, Dr Makhjia shared a successful model of composting and waste segregation at Navjeevan Society in South Delhi and appealed to the RWAs to adopt a similar model and make Dwarka an example in waste management.

In a talk with City Spidey, she said that more such meetings and interactions would be organised for Dwarka soon. "The response of today's meeting was great and we will go for a bigger meeting ahead. We
want to start a successful model by making a society perfectly managed for waste so that the particular model would be implied to other societies," she said.
