Spring blooms at Delhi’s Talkatora Garden

The small transition period between Winter and summer is a great time to indulge in leisurely walks around Delhi gardens. The flowers bloom and the sunshine smiles making your visit more pleasant. One of these destinations is the Talkatora Garden at Mother Teresa's crescent in President’s estate.

The garden designed in step (similar to Kashmir's Shalimar Bagh) offers a view of lovely flower beds, several fountains and some relics of monuments at the top end of the garden. A tank situated at the west side of the Garden is surrounded by hilly ground (part of the Delhi Ridge, which forms a katora or bowl-shaped natural depression, giving the place its name.

The garden used to be a tank and a swimming pool in Mughal times. The Marathas defeated the Mughals in the Battle of Delhi at this place. These gardens were also the site for the shooting of the popular Hindi film Chashme Buddoor starring Farooq Sheikh and Deepti Naval.
