Oscars 2022: Dune and Coda win big this time!

The most anticipated awards celebrating and appreciating cinema, the Oscars 2022 aired yesterday and the event has taken the internet by storm. The 94th edition of the Academy Awards was hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes and unlike last year, Oscars returned to the Dolby Theatre this time.

CODA won big at Oscars 2022 as it won in all three categories it was nominated for. It bagged the big win of Best Picture, accompanied with a historic win of Troy Kotsur as 'Best Supporting Actor'. This win makes Troy Kotsur the first deaf man to win an Oscar for acting. Along with this, CODA also claimed the trophy for 'Best Adapted Screenplay'.

As far as the Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Leading Role are concerned, Will Smith for King Richard and Jessica Chastain for The Eyes of Tammy Faye won respectively. This win marks Jessica Chastain's first Oscar win.

Dune also won big this time, claiming six Oscars. Greig Fraser took home the trophy for Best Cinematography for Dune. Further, Dune won in the Best Production Design category as Patrice Vermette and Zsuzsanna Sipos took home trophies for Production Design and Set Decoration respectively. In the Best Visual Effects category, Paul Lambert, Tristan Myles, Brian Connor, and Gerd Nefzer claimed the trophy for Dune. Joe Walker won in the category of Best Film Editing for Dune. In the Best Original Score Category, Hans Zimmer won for Dune. For the Best sound, Mac Ruth, Mark Mangini, Theo Green, Doug Hemphill and Ron Bartlett claimed the trophy for Dune.

Greig Fraser wins 'Best Cinematography' for Dune

Encanto won the Best Animated Feature Film. Jane Campion won the Oscar for the Best Direction for The Power of Dog, leaving behind even the likes of Paul Thomas Anderson and Steven Spielberg for Licorice Pizza and West Side Story respectively.

The nomination of 'Writing with Fire' in the Best Documentary category got the Indians excited, however, it could win as Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)" bagged the trophy for the same. The winner for Best Documentary Short Subject, The Queen of Basketball won, and Drive My Car (Japan) took home the Best International Feature Film Award.

"No Time To Die", music and lyric by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell was names the Best Original Song in the Oscars 2022. In the Makeup and Hairstyle category, Linda Dowds, Stephanie Ingram and Justin Raleigh won for The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Ariana DeBose won the Actress in Supporting Role for 'West Side Story'.

Heading towards short films, The Long Goodbye won in the category of Best Live Action shirt Film while The Windshield Wiper won in the category of Animated Short Film.

Belfast won in the category of Best Original Screenplay and Jenny Beavan bagged the Oscars for Best Costume Design for Cruella.
