Constipation causes discomfort and no one wants to experience that. The unhealthy habits and sedentary lifestyle are some of the common causes of constipation. However, it is not impossible to get rid of it. Constipation can be cured by simply bringing positive changes in lifestyle and eating habits. So here are some of the habits that one should take care to reduce the chances of constipation-

You don’t stick to a bathroom routine: The longer excreta (waste of the body) stays in your intestine, the harder it gets. Ultimately, this makes it even more difficult to pass. To cure the condition, one has to have a bowel movement at the same time every day. This will help to set your body clock. Consumption also helps to move the waste forward so after 15-45 minutes of having breakfast one can try to go to the washroom.

Your medicines or supplements are to blame: According to WebMD, a health website, there are some drugs and supplements that one may be consuming to cure other conditions that can also lead to constipation. Such medicine can include antacids, narcotics, antidepressants and drugs. They help to manage blood pressure and iron deficiency.

You don’t go when you need to: You may have a busy schedule or the washrooms are not so hygienic but ignoring the urge to poop can land you in difficulty. No matter wherever you are, as soon as you feel the urge to pass the stool, use any clean bathroom.

You don’t move enough: Physical exercise or moving the body is very important to have a healthy metabolic system. If you sit for long hours, there are more chances of having constipation. It can also be a common problem for people who stay in bed or sit for longer hours. To improve the condition, try to exercise for 15-20 minutes every day or walk for an hour.

You don’t get enough fibre: Adding fibre rich food to your diet can help to alleviate symptoms of constipation. Fibrous food helps to retain more water and bulk in your intestines. This makes the stool in the body stay softer and easier to pass. To reduce the risk of having  constipation one has to add high-fibre foods. However, go slowly and  add fibrous food slowly to your meal. Consuming high fibrous food in  high amounts can also lead to constipation.
