If you work all day long, you must know the importance and enjoyment of snacking in between the breaks. However, when we talk about snacks samosa, kachori, and pakoda are some legit snack foods that come to mind. However, consuming such items every day is not as healthy as the dishes we are going to share today. That is also even without changing the flavour and adding some more health benefits to it. Here are the five best dishes that are made from different types of pulses (Daal).  Try out these protein-rich recipes which are a treat to your taste buds.

Moong dal samosa

Are you also tired of eating aloo in samosas all the time? Then you must try this delicious samosa filled with healthy tasteful moong dal. This crispy samosa recipe can be enjoyed with chai and imli chatni ( tamarind sauce). Here are the ingredients you require to make moong dal samosa.

Ingredients:

2 cups Refined flour
1 tsp Salt
2 tbsp Oil
Coldwater
3 cups Green gram (moong dal, husked), soaked.
2 tbsp Oil
1 tsp Cumin seeds
1/8 tsp Asafoetida
3 tsp Garam masala
3 tsp Chilli powder
2 tbsp Fennel seeds, powdered
2 tsp Coriander powder
to taste Salt
1 1/2 tsp Mango powder

Steps to prepare moong dal samosa:

Take a clean utensil, and add some flour according to the need. Add some salt as per taste. Knead the mixture with some oil and water.
Leave the mixture for 12 to 15 minutes for some time.
Grind the lentils properly in a mixture.
Now heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a small pan or a utensil for spouter.   add the cumin seeds and asafoetida to it.
When the cumin seeds start spluttering, add the lentils to them. Mix it well and later on add the rest of the other ingredients used in the filling.
Saute this mixture over a slow flame till it is well fried.
Keep the mixture away and let it cool down.
Now turn the dough into smooth balls and roll them in a flat circle.
Now take the one-half side of the rolled dough. wet one of the edges,  and fold the straight edge at the centre.
Join by one half overlapping the other to form a cone.
Press the overlapping portion. Now fill the mixture with some filling of dal.
Heat the oil over medium flame and fry samosa in it till they turn light brown.

Chana dal dhokla

This Gujarati dish is amazing to taste but with a  twist of chana dal in it. It becomes even more delicious and tempting with coconut garnishing.

Ingredients:
250 Gram Chana dal
50 ml Yoghourt
Sugar
20 ml Oil
Mustard seeds
Red chillies
Asafoetida
Water
Lemon juice
Salt
Chopped green chillies,
Chopped coriander leaves
Chopped ginger
Turmeric
Soda bi-carb
Coconut, grated
Coriander leaves, chopped

Steps to prepare chana dhokla:

Clean the lentils under running water and then for about 2 hours.
After the rest of 2 hours, blend it with yoghurt.
Mix in the sugar and keep the mixture in a warm place to ferment overnight.
Take another bowl mix in the soda bi-carb with oil and leave and keep it in a cool place.
Now add the other remaining ingredients for the batter after it is fermented.
Grease a mould used for dhokla and keep it for steaming.
Add the soda bicarb to the batter and keep stirring it till it becomes soft and plumpy.
Immediately pour the mixture into the already prepared mould.
Cover and steam for 15-20 minutes.
Remove it and let the utensil cool down for a minute. Cut it into pieces.
Heat the oil in a pan, and add mustard seeds when it starts spurting.  Pour the mixture over the dhokla.
Garnish the dhokla with some coriander and coconut.

Aloo and dal ki Tikki

These crispy and mouth-watering cutlets are best to enjoy with tea and any of your favourite sauces. This time-saving recipe is rich in carbs and protein that will make you feel full for longer.

Ingredients

Boiled mashed potatoes
3 white bread slices
Salt and red chilli.
Garam masala to taste.
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 cup chana dal (parboiled)
green chilli, finely chopped
Lemon juice
Coriander

Steps to prepare aloo dal ki Tikki

Take a clean bowl and crumble bread slices in it.
Now add the mashed potatoes, chana dal, coriander leaves, lemon juice and chillies to the crumbled bread.
Add some spices according to the taste. Such as cumin powder,  coriander powder, garam masala, salt and a few drops of oil.
Mix the mixture well with your hands...
Shape the mixture into a small ball type shape.
Heat some oil over a medium flame and fry the mixture till they become brown.
Serve with hot tea and some tamarind sauce.
