Dwarka-based cultural group Asawari Baithak, dedicated to the propagation of Hindustani classical music, organised an absorbing musical session on May 29, 2022.
The highlight of the musical evening, organised at Peepal apartments, Dwarka was the rendition of the unusual raag Malua Kedar by classical vocalist Richa Jain. She was ably supported on Tabla by Alka Mankani and Kaushik (on Harmonium.)
Richa presented a soulful bada khayal followed by a bandish in Chhota Khayal in Raag Malua Kedar. On request, she continued with Kedar and presented another Chhota Khayal bandish in raag kedar. She ended the musical evening with a bhajan in raag Bhairavi.
The evening was attended by a number of music lovers from Dwarka, including senior vocalist Shikha Ganguly. Dr. Shailesh Kumar, another well-known classical vocalist (Banaras Gharana) was also present on the occasion, as was vocalist Dr. Priyanka Kashyap (Rampur Sehaswan Gharana) who had come all the way from Noida.
The evening concluded with a round of tea, samosas, jalebi, and rich conversation about Hindustani classical music.
