Circe

Circe, by Madeline Miller, is the tale of Circe, the immortal daughter of Helios, god of the sun. She might be unusual by the standards of other deities but she has a hidden talent- witchcraft. When her strange abilities start posing a threat to the gods, she is banished to the island of Aiaia, but this only leads to her fine tuning her craft. Miller’s flowery prose and poetic writing beautifully illustrates the story of Circe as she carves out her own path in defiance of the gods and transforms from a quiet child into a powerful sorceress who is a force be reckoned with. This book will captivate you with its language, world building and of course its unforgettable lead. (ages 14+ )
