Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi navigate Beauty Stereotypes in Double XL Trailer

The trailer for the much-anticipated film Double XL, starring Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi, is finally out. The film, directed by Satram Ramani, follows two plus-size women, Rajshree Trivedi from Meerut and Saira Khanna from New Delhi, navigating society's harsh beauty standards. The film is described as a slice-of-life comedy-drama.

The teaser begins with cricketer Shikhar Dhawan asking Huma Qureshi for a dance, but it is revealed to be a dream. Rajshree, played by Huma, aspires to be a sports presenter in New Delhi. Sonakshi Sinha's Saira, who is a fashion designer, on the other hand is having problems in both her personal and professional life. Things change when these two plus-size ladies meet and vow to change their future rather than their weight. In the trailer, Zaheer Iqbal also seems to play a vital part.

With discussions about body positivity are picking pace, the film has an intriguing and timely premise, but the trailer suggests it will follow the standard Bollywood mainstream path to wow the audience. Apart from Sonakshi and Huma, the film also stars Zaheer Iqbal and Shikhar Dawan in a cameo roles. Let's hope this movie actually tries to deliver what it aims for rather than becoming just another half baked attempt.

Sonakshi and Huma have seemingly bulked up for the film. In a prior interview with India Today, Zaheer stated, "Sonakshi and Huma did their diet because they were expected to gain weight." They gained 15-20 kilos for the movie. So they were simply eating and eating and eating. It was about action, cut, and burger lao (bring food). That's all I recall about the shoot."

T-Series Films has announced that the film will be released on November 4. The film will compete with Katrina Kaif's Phone Bhoot, which will also be released on November 4.
