Government has approved projects worth Rs 12 crores to strengthen road infra in Delhi

New Delhi: In order to ensure excellent civic infrastructure in the national capital, the Delhi government has been working in a mission mode. Regular inspections are being done by the Public Works Department (PWD) to assess, redevelop and strengthen the existing infrastructure across the capital. In view of the same, the government has approved projects worth Rs 12 crores for the repair and redevelopment of various important infrastructures in Delhi.

The projects include the repair and redevelopment of the Andrews Ganj and Nehru Place flyovers at the cost of Rs 2.10 crores and culverts at 6 locations at Najafgarh Drain from Bharat Nagar to Timarpur amounting to Rs 9.90 crores.

While sharing the details about the project, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “Government is working round the clock to ensure better road infrastructure. The PWD is regularly assessing the infra at various locations and ensuring their maintenance from time to time so that no inconvenience is caused to the commuters. Following the same, two new projects have been approved recently. The repair and redevelopment of the Andrews Ganj and Nehru Place flyovers will increase the life of the flyovers by up to 20 years. The repair and redevelopment of culverts at the Najafgarh drain will increase the life of culverts and make it safer for the commuters.”

Repair and redevelopment of the Andrews Ganj and Nehru Place flyovers will be done at the cost of Rs 2.10 crores which involves the replacement of worn-out bearings which will increase the life of flyovers up to 20 years. The work will be completed in 6 months.

Another project will ensure the repair and redevelopment of culverts at 6 locations at Najafgarh Drain from Bharat Nagar to Timarpur at the cost of Rs 9.90 crores. Repair of these culverts had been pending for a long time. This project will be completed in 9 months.

Sisodia directed the concerned officials to complete the work in the stipulated time and ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the public when the work is in progress.
