The equipment includes air walkers, sit-up benches, air swings, stair steppers, leg presses, pull-up chairs, exercise bars, chest presses, bench presses, cross-walkers, twisters and rowing machines.
The machines are weather-proof and are clamped onto concrete slabs across rubberised tiles, making it impossible to move them manually.
Omveer Singh, director of horticulture, Noida Authority, said, “A total of 17 machines will be installed at each of the open-air gyms at an estimated budget of Rs 25 lakh. The sector RWA will be responsible for its maintenance. Instructions on how to use the equipment will be found on the machines in both English and Hindi.”
Indu Jain, RWA vice-president, Sector 108, said, “We will do our best to maintain it. The residents are already excited with the idea of an open-air gym in the neighbourhood.”
Noida Authority plans to open 26 such gyms in sectors 12, 19, 23, 33, 34, 35, 36, 39, 40, 44, 46, 47, 48, 50, 51, 52, 54, 55, 56, 61, 62, 70, 93A, 105 119 and 122.
