Dwarka: “Credit card is safer than debit card in any UPI transaction. You should prefer using credit card than debit card to avoid chance of fraud and to keep yourselves safer,” said an expert , Scientist C ,Yash Dhingra from CERTin, Nodal agency of Ministry of Electronics and IT.

He explained that while transaction through debit card any fraud happened then the person would be there to face the trouble while in case of credit card the bank would directly deal with the fraudster. Yash also said about how the online transactions have loopholes and how the debit cards are vulnerable when used directly in UPI transaction connected direct to the bank account. He was interacting with the RWAs, social organisations from Dwarka on the subject of cyber awareness and fraud. The program was organised by Dwarka District police in which different competent authorities like representatives of various banks were also present.

Yash suggested the gathering to be aware and keep always two accounts. One for salary and other for using the UPI transaction. “Keep a minimum amount in the account for use for UPI and online transaction. This will to a great extent save you from fraud and if it happens you would not be in big loss,” said he.

On the occasion Chief Manager IT, PNB, Satendra Sharma also interacted with the gathering. He made the people aware about types of frauds and how one can prevent that. Through PPT he demonstrated the aspects of fraud and precautions from it. He said, “Never ever any links from unknown source. Never search helpline number on Google, just get it from the official sites of the bank’s otherwise there is a chance of fishing using fake sites. Also, always be aware in ATMs and at patrol pumps and shield the button while using to type the pin.” Sharma said that frauds are happening because people randomly fills the forma on web or give details what they ask. “Always be aware about where and what you are sharing online,” said he.

In the program experts said that one should never download the remote accessing apps on phone. They also suggested that these days electricity bills, KYC etc are sent fake by fraudster to Crete psychological fear in people. On such links when one clicks they hack their phone or system and do fraud.

People also suggested some points to the experts and shared their experiences. Nidhi Gupta from All Dwarka Resident Federation suggested to organise more such awareness program in the community.

SHO, Cyber Cell, Jagdish Jarwal said that on the directive of Govt. of India to promote Digital Payment as part of G20 ministry of Electronics & Information Technology has launched ‘Digital Payment Utsav' and the event was a part of that in Dwarka. “It aims to create awareness among citizens while conveying precautions to be adhered to while making these transactions,” shared Jagdish.
