Burglars spark fear among Dwarka residents

Dwarka: Two societies of Dwarka became a recent target of burglars on Thursday morning. While one flat at Abhiyan Apartments was ransacked by burglars, the locks of three other flats – two in Abhiyan itself and another in Park View Apartments– couldn’t be broken entirely.

President of the society Abhiyan Apartments DK Sharma says, “ The burglars entered the society by cutting the barbed wire from the backside. They roamed in blocks A and B. They tried to break the locks of flats 262 and 151 but failed and then succeeded in breaking the lock of flat number 154. We saw, at around 5 am, those thieves escaping from the same place they entered in the society.”

Sharma added that a formal complaint to the police has also been registered by the society and the victim. “After the complaint, ACP and his team visited the society for investigation,” says he.

The former secretary of Park View Apartments says that the thieves tried to break the lock of a flat but they left because it was early morning they found someone approaching to deliver milk to those flats.

The residents have now demanded night patrolling as well as the installation of more CCTV cameras under the Delhi scheme. They also expressed the need of pruning overgrown trees all across Sector 12 in Dwarka as such trees are creating dark patches, giving an advantage to the thieves to cut the wire and enter any society's premises.
