On March 5th, 2023, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and WWF-India partnered to organise the first East Delhi Bird Festival at Sanjay Van. The festival brought together community members from all over Delhi NCR, including environment activists and birders, to enjoy bird watching in this city's Reserve Forest.

The festival aimed to create a platform for "Learning with Nature" and celebrate Delhi's bird diversity, the second bird-rich capital in the world after Nairobi, Kenya. The event featured nature walks, arts and crafts, exhibition stalls, and interactive multimedia activities. Attendees of all ages and backgrounds had the opportunity to experience, celebrate, and learn about the winged wonders that share space with them.

Over 450 individuals participated in the event, which was a huge success. The festival provided a unique opportunity for citizens to connect with nature and appreciate the biodiversity of Delhi's avian fauna.
