22nd Dedication Day at Shaheed Smarak- Tribute to Martyrs

Noida:  Shaheed Smarak Sanstha observed the 22nd Dedication Day at Shaheed Smarak in sector 29, Noida on April 13th. It was observed by paying homage to the martyrs of the Kargil War in 1999. In memory of martyrs, they celebrated this day by lighting candles. The candle lighting ceremony started with the lighting of the first candle during the commencement of dusk at the pedestal of the cenotaph by PVSM (retired) Lt Gen GL Bakshi, Chairman of the Sanstha.

After that, the families of Martyrs; Mrs Nargis Naqvi wife of martyr, Sqn Ldr IH Naqvi, Flt Lt JP SHARMA, Father of Capt Shashi Kant Sharma;  Savita Singh; Lt Gen SK Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM (Retired) Executive Director of Shaheed Smarak, Lt General SK Verma, Lt Gen YP Khurana, Maj Gen DK Sen; Brigadiers Bali, Cols Venish Rai, Mehhta, along with Teacher and students of APS school; and citizens of Gautam Budh Nagar lighted the candles and paid homage to 39 martyrs. In the light of these candles, the Smarak was glowing. It was a magnificent sight, as it was a plethora of candlelight in and around the cenotaph.

Maj Gen DK Sen informed that they had been celebrating Dedication Day since 2002, after the inauguration of the war memorial. He added that Shaheed Smarak Park won the Noida Flower Show for 20 consecutive years. The retired officers of the defense staff are responsible for the upkeep of this entire park. They paid homage to the martyrs by maintaining all safety measures for COVID imposed by Section 144.
