Protect Your Skin from the Sun: Skincare Tips for Hot Summer Months

The hot rays of the sun and the dry winds can take a toll on your skin. Prolonged exposure to the sun increase melanin levels in the skin which may result in sunburn, suntan, and signs of skin ageing. Here are some tips to avoid tanning in these harsh summer months:

Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water is crucial in the summer months, as high temperatures result in sweating that can dehydrate your skin and harm your overall health. Carry a water bottle with you and add fruits like melon, watermelon, and cucumber to your diet to help maintain hydration levels.

Use sunscreen

Applying sunscreen is a must in summer to protect yourself from the harmful rays of the sun. Prolonged exposure to the sun can make your skin dull, cause skin tanning, and result in premature ageing and wrinkles. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going out in the sun for best results.

Carry an umbrella or scarf

Protect your skin and hair from the sun by carrying an umbrella or scarf. An umbrella can also act as a sunscreen and provide relaxation to your eyes.

Apply serum

Vitamin C serum is beneficial for your skin as it is rich in antioxidants and reduces hyperpigmentation. Apply it in the morning right after cleansing and moisturizing, and don't forget to apply SPF right after the serum for better results.

Exfoliate your skin

Exfoliating can help prevent suntan and deeply clean your pores. Use a scrub once a week to remove impurities from your skin and make it look radiant.

Use a homemade face mask

Applying a face mask every day can help repair your skin cells and make your skin healthier and shinier. Mix 1 teaspoon of Fuller's earth powder, 1/2 teaspoon of sandalwood powder, 1 teaspoon of tomato juice, and 1/2 tsp of aloe vera juice to make a paste, and apply it all over your face and neck for 5-10 minutes before washing it off with cold water.

Protect your eyes and lips

Don't forget to protect your eyes and lips from the harmful rays of the sun by applying SPF underneath them. Carry sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun.
