DDRWA Protests Against Hike in Electricity Rates

Noida: The DDRWA on Friday participated in a gathering organised by the Regulatory Commission of the Electricity Department to protest against the recent increase in electricity rates. During the meeting, the DDRWA presented their arguments and urged the Commission to reduce the electricity rates and units.

The DDRWA strongly opposed the hike in electricity bills and raised the following points in support of their argument:

The electricity rates in nearby cities and states are lower than those in Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, the electricity rates in Uttar Pradesh should be reduced to match those of other regions.

The prices of coal, CNG, and PNG gas have decreased, and this reduction should reflect in the electricity rates.

The formula for the fixed charge on electricity rates needs to be amended. The fixed charge, currently set at a rate of 75%, should be reduced to 40%.

Sanjeev Kumar, senior vice president of the DDRWA, emphasized their strong opposition to the increase in tariff rates and electric units. He also demanded a reduction in the unit charge from the electricity department.
