Get Rewarded for Recycling at NPCL's Plastic-Free Drive

Greater Noida strives to achieve plastic-free status with RVMs

Greater Noida: In an attempt to make the city plastic-free, Greater Noida, Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) has taken the initiative of a plastic-free drive by installing reverse vending machines (RVM) at its offices at Knowledge Park 4, Knowledge Park 1, and TechZone 4.

The plastic collected at these RVMs is recycled and turned into fabric for garments such as T-shirts, jackets, bags, hats, etc. The RVMs collected a total number of 485 plastic bottles in April end.

Sarnath Ganguly, the General Manager of NPCL said, "To promote a plastic-free Greater Noida and reduce the impact of plastic waste on the environment, NPCL has taken the initiative to set up reverse vending machines. We will distribute the goodies to all those who have handed in their plastic waste. Greater Noida generates around 20 tonnes of plastic waste daily."

A reverse vending machine (RVM) is a machine where you can put a used plastic bottle (200 ml to 2.5 litres) or aluminium can for a reward. After you put the recyclable item into an RVM, it is pressed and turned into recycled goods.
