Noida: Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj (Suhas LY) IAS, a renowned sports personality and former Sports Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, continues to add new chapters of success to his remarkable journey. Once again, Suhas has achieved a significant accomplishment by winning the silver medal in the Bahrain Open Para-Badminton Championships (2023). Throughout his career, Suhas LY has consistently brought pride to India by securing medals in various Para-Badminton events, including the Olympics. At the championship held in Manama, Bahrain, Suhas displayed exceptional performance, triumphing over players from South Korea, Brazil, China, Germany, and Indonesia to reach the finals.
In an intense final match, Suhas took a 21-16 lead in the first round. Although he narrowly lost the second round with a score of 21-23, he fought back in the third round and emerged victorious with a score of 17-21. Ultimately, Suhas LY missed the gold medal but dedicated his well-deserved silver medal to the people of his country.

This recent success adds to Suhas LY's impressive track record, as he previously secured a bronze medal at the badminton championship in Spain held on April 26, 2020. Suhas LY consistently brings honour to India through his exceptional sporting prowess. Despite being assigned new responsibilities, he has continued to achieve remarkable milestones while serving in GautamBuddha Nagar.
Expressing his elation, Suhas LY stated, "I have dedicated extensive efforts to prepare for this championship. Winning the silver medal for India in the 2023 Open Para-Badminton Championship brings me immense joy, but my journey does not end here. I am now focused on preparing for the Olympic Championships and will continue to bring more laurels to our beloved nation."
Suhas LY, a 2007-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, hails from Shimoga district in Karnataka. Amidst the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government appointed Suhas LY as the district magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar on March 3, 2020. Before this role, Suhas LY had served as the district collector in Maharajganj, Sonbhadra, Hathras, Prayagraj, Jaunpur, and Azamgarh.
