Most residents of Nirman Apartments in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension voted against managing committee's decision to instal lifts in the society.
The decision was announced during the general body meeting on March 12. According to Sanjeev Jayaswal, president of the managing committee, "Out of 236 flat owners, 166 have opposed the idea, while 70 voted in favour of lifts. It is mostly the residents who live on the topmost [fourth] floor who have demanded the lifts to be installed."
The managing committee had sought residents' opinion on installing lifts in the society. Residents were asked to submit their responses via email or letter, by February 28. Tenants were not allowed to participate in the opinion poll.
"We will not be going ahead with the installation of lifts, as most have voted against it," said Jayaswal. "We will conduct the poll again, if the demands persist."
